Best of Bond : 20 Furious Fights

This is the third of my Bond Moments series. While there have been many brilliant and memorable Bond stunts over the years, it is unfortunately harder to find a decent good-old-fashioned fist fight within the movies. Bond has become more of a man of gadgets than a man of fists. However, there are still many gems hidden amongst the pile of guns and gadgets – I start off with the more unique battles, moving slowly up the chain to the increasingly tense and suspensful showdowns. Damn great countdown, IMO the fight of Bond against Trevelyan should have been the 2nd. I would have changed the 14th (Girl Truble) for the fight against Oddjob inside the Fort Knox. Great countdown

What was the piece of music used in the ‘View to a kill’ scene?

  9. iiUsedToBeCool says:

He actually punched out a stunt man during a rehearsal fight in OHMSS.

I think the knife fight from Quantum of Solace should have been included but otherwise well done.

Thanks. I’ve only watched the official films so thats why theres no NSNA

Thought about commentary but just need to figure the best way to do it

Nice list. Some commentary would have been nice, and also, where was the hospital fight in Never Say Never Again? That should have been in the top 5.

  19. Colorshade says:

    Thunderball is from 1965.

    Good compilation. Very enjoyable.

  21. mfwe22 says:

Yes, you are right. Horrible editing makes for an unproffessional and distracting fight scene. There is nothing better than a ferocious fight scene, with clear editing….
I would recommend one film that you, OBVIOUSLY, have not seen……..Quantum of Solace (-:
haha (forgive me, I couldn’t resist!)

  22. melosebrainuhoh says:

The argument against crappy editing is perfectly valid for a fight with humans. In a fight scene, I want to be able to see who’s doing what, not just see a jumble of incomprehensible images that ends with one guy standing victorious. The style and quality of fight scenes has varied, but for a good fifty years they’ve at least been coherent. The recent introduction of epileptic seizure-cam is a complete failure and needs to stop NOW.

  23. mfwe22 says:

…..well…..it’s a BOND FILM! Look, your new argument is valid for a Transformers fight scene where it was difficult to differentiate what robot was delivering the beat down. However, when it comes to a film where there is a CLEAR protagonist…..it is a bit weak.
    - Regardless, I will respect your opinion and say…..maybe, they put too much of the FRESH martial-arts into the scenes, to make it realistic, for the modern day trained killers.

  24. melosebrainuhoh says:

The only ferocity of Quantum’s fights was in the pit bull that was apparently mauling the cameraman’s balls during each shot.

Call me old fashioned, call me crazy, but I prefer fight scenes in which I can actually tell what the hell is going on.

  25. mfwe22 says:

I understand that OLD BOND fans and NEW BOND fans do not mix well, but as far as ferocious goes……please review the mitchell and slate, fight scenes…..because, as far as your comment goes, you are SORELY mistaken.
