Yeah, I was going for a sony psr-600, but finally I made up my mind and will wait ’till 2010 for this one, I need a bigger scree since I have a lot of pdfs. The bridgestone reader seems pretty neat too, and it would be color, but it’s going to take much longer for us to see it in stores. Just a little patience…

I actually kinda agree with this.
Being Colored and Wifi would be great.
Tho it might actually already have color, but she just didnt show it.
As for Wifi, that would just be interesting.

Another thing is, will the Newspaper and Magazine download be free?
And how much data can you store in the Digital Paper?
    ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
And is it possible to find books you already have to store it in?

This looks better than the kindle… I was about to go for kindle but I’ll wait for this.
First no buttons, all is in the touch screen. It’s like a paper page, nothing else.
Extremely tin, that really helps the paper feel. You can just let it lye around your place.
Well the kindle lost my suport the moment they took out the SD slot, and forced you to do everything from their own website.
While with another ereader you can purchase from just about anywhere, and probably amazon too.

  4. radiosnarf says:

Yeah maybe, but with the kindle you are married for life to amazon, even when you want a pdf in your kindle you need to send it first to amazon so they give you back a kindle compatible pdf. Also the plasticlogic site says that the QUE will have 3g, and the possibility to read doc, xls, pdf without having to buy them in amazon. Does kindle do that stuff? Certainly not. Besides, if you listened carefully to the video, there is no glass in the QUE reader, that makes it lighter and more resistant

So… Is this just a larger screen Kindle without the online support? Seems pretty lame that they’re still not finished developing it considering there’s VERY similar products (some of which seem better) already on the market.
Can’t say this impresses me at all. It’s virtual paper. I mean, the Kindle has 3G online support without any fees, so you can download books on it whenever you want. Text to speech and free Wikipedia (and Google maps I believe) access.
This is just a worse product.

is it black and white only?

The Plastic Logic has a large screen which makes it legible for reading large documents. But also it will come as a great book reader. It seems like it can change pages within one second. This is going to be so awesome. At&t partnership has just been confirmed. This will be great for the heavy amount of ebooks. Do you think it would be possible if they could crystalize the border of this device to somehow enhance peripheral vision when reading and enable one to have a photoreading experience?

Failed as soon as she said that you could goto their website and download…. the platform needs to be open and wireless so content can be delivered to it effortlessly. Could fit into my concept for the future of newsprint, take a look at the series here (this is part 1 of 4 so far so check all of them out as we build on the concept) at the Tunicca Premedia Blog

Just give it time! I wouldn’t doubt tat in about 5 years time, they’ll have full-blown color with a astoundingly higher refresh rate & upgradeable memory! Just imagen the potential applications behind this! You could use this for camera mounted technology were you can see everything in any spectrum from natural day & night time tones, to brightened images for vehicle windows were you don’t need glass, or full-glass like hologram rooms were you cant see in, but have a full 3D view outside!

  14. 03veritas says:

but unlike an LCD it uses barely any battery and is very easy on the eyes

  15. GitThatMutha says:

The screen behaves almost like a dying LCD because of the super sluggish refresh rate.

Every video I’ve seen of this, I have yet to see if there’s a USB port, or a camera card port. I’d really like to know that, or if it’s wifi, that’s cool of course. Even so, I think extending the storage through a card would be ideal. Also having a mini jack for headphones so I could listen to the book or mp3s with it, that’s cool too.
